Configuring Multitasking on iOS Apps

You can set multitasking for both Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire at the global and account levels. Known to be more demanding on the battery, using Standard is inevitable if you are facing constraints that limit you to use Push Notifications.

Note

To learn the condition of choosing push notifications or multitasking, go to faq.acrobits.net/push-notifications-or-multitasking.

Acrobits recommends using Push notifications for incoming calls and messages. However, if using push notifications is not feasible due to SIP provider restrictions, local network accessibility, or special security requirements, you should use multitasking (the Standard mode) instead.

Configuring Multitasking in the Global Incoming Calls setting

To configure multitasking in the global Incoming Calls setting on Groundwire and Acrobits Softphone:

  1. Open the Keypad tab, select iOS Setting icon > Incoming Calls.

  2. Select Standard.
  3. Select Done.

Configuring Multitasking for a SIP Account

Important

  • The Incoming Calls setting for the SIP account takes precedence over the global setting.
  • Using multitasking is noted to be less battery-friendly.
Once one of the accounts uses Standard, the battery impact is significant.  Hence, using Standard for other accounts does not significantly affect battery life. Using Push notifications for other accounts does not significantly help preserve battery life.
  1. Open the Keypad tab, select iOS Setting icon > Accounts or SIP Accounts.

  2. Select the desired SIP account.
  3. Select Incoming Calls.

  4. Select Use Global Setting.

  5. Select Save.

  6. Select Done.
